Melbourne Victory manager Jim Magilton set to make changes for Central Coast clash

Melbourne Victory boss Jim Magilton is set to make changes to his side for Friday night’s crunch game against Central Coast Mariners. Grant Brebner who is suspended for his red card in the Melbourne Derby last week also picked up an injury.

When asked if there will be changes to the midfield Magilton declared that Brebner had ruptured a tendon in his ankle so therefore there would be.

“Grant Brebner obviously had a scan yesterday and he has ruptured a tendon and it all looked like we will be missing him for the rest of the season but we might have him back miraculously in a month so we obviously had to make a chance in there.”

Magilton next described what happened to the experience Scotsman.
“It was during the game and he managed to carry on but we feared the worst but we sort of got some good news yesterday, he may still have a part to play at the end of the season.”

Youngster Jimmy Jeggo looks likely to come in for Brebner to make his A-League debut with Leigh Broxham dropping to the bench which means Mark Milligan will partner the 19-year-old in midfield. But that will only go ahead if new Spanish signing Ubay Luzardo receives his clearance from FIFA to play. Magilton remains hopeful that the 28-year-old will be available.

“We are going to do all we can and hopefully he does get clearance and stands a good chance of playing.”
The Spaniard will most likely partner Adrian Leijer in the heart of the defence if he passes the late fitness test.

Magilton also told the media that Leijer isn’t having problems with his shoulder but his groin.
“He has just had an ongoing groin problem all year and we more or less nursed him through training and got him to play games.”

The Northern Irishman also has been impressed by youth League captain Jimmy Jeggo.
“Yes he has impressed me with a lot of others but Jimmy has impressed me. He is a good young footballer; I played midfield in all my games so I am going to look closely at Jimmy Jeggo. ”
