Melbourne Heart coach John van ‘t Schip is set to make no
changes to his starting line-up for Saturday’s clash with Newcastle Jets.
The Dutchman told the media after training his thoughts on
his squad for Saturday’s game.
“Normally we will not have any changes, of course there is
still one day to go but looking at the squad we will almost be the same.”
However Kristian Sarkies limped off early from training on
Thursday with a knock to his calf. So if any changes will be made that would be
it.
“Maybe we will take
an extra player with us because we have Kristian (Sarkies) who is maybe in
doubt so we will take an extra player with us.”
When asked who could replace Sarkies van ‘t Schip responded
with “One of the others” but it looks like Paul Reid would be the likely
replacement.
No other changes mean impressive debutant Craig Goodwin will
have another start at left fullback.
After the 20-year-old’s great debut in the Melbourne Derby
van ‘t Schip doesn’t expect Goodwin to have a similar performance.
“I don’t expect the same kind of performance. I expect Craig
to just do the things he is supposed to do as a left fullback and that’s first
making sure that he is switched on being defensively doing his task and where
possible try to help going forward.”
According to van ‘t Schip Melbourne Heart captain Fred is
not going to travel to the Hunter Valley to take on the Jets. But the Brazilian
might play some time in the Youth Team at John Cain Memorial Park on Sunday
against Adelaide United.
“He is not ready yet. We just a little chat, I think he
needs one more week and then to play maybe a little part in the youth team
which will try and get him ready for next week then he can play maybe a half or
an hour.”
